The integral development of the child in early childhood is fundamentally crossed by the game.

The game at this time goes through motor skills and sensory experiences.
We are in a time of exploration, we explore the external and internal world through sensory experiences and bodily skills.

The child in this time needs the possibility of touching everything, living experiences with different textures, being able to take out and put elements, carry and bring, hide and search. Through the senses we have the entrance to the world and to ourselves.

These experiences allow you, in addition to stimulating cognitive skills, to develop the sense of proprioception.

The child through the game is getting to know himself. This is why we are going to promote play and learning opportunities through exploration and creativity.

It’s easy, the child wants to play and explore all the elements that surround him, such as everyday items. For this reason, we can access the game with elements of everyday life, in the different spaces of the home.

The adult accompanies these initiatives, favoring a good time for play and exploration.

If we favor play, the child will strengthen the foundations for other learning such as the acquisition of social skills, acquisition of emotional regulation, and the different cognitive abilities such as attention, memory and language.

Establishing routines helps family dynamics achieve long-term benefits: such as security, trust, healthy limits, a calmer climate.

With routines, children learn to be responsible for their own behavior and it gives them security. In addition, they are one of the most effective tools to manage certain moments of tantrums such as bedtime, eating, bathing, doing homework, getting ready in the morning…

During the first year, routines are created by adults, marking a time to eat, sleep and bathe, since they depend entirely and because they are smaller they adapt easily.

The tantrums or situations that we mentioned earlier usually appear when they grow up, around the age of 2, where children are constantly focused on their interests and games, and taking them out of their activities frustrates them, makes them angry and often annoys them.

It is for this reason that creating routines together with them is the best way to involve them in the process, they feel taken into account and will show a better attitude.

They can find a quiet moment to work out the routine and talk about it, offer options on how to organize the routines, for example:

“Do you want to brush your teeth first or change into your pajamas?”

When we give children options, they feel like they have a choice.

It can also be assembled on a blackboard or cardboard, and leave it in a visible place, a board with the order of the routine, adding images or drawings that refer to one of the moments of the routine.

Also practice the routine through play, since in play they are also learning!

And finally, ask direct and specific questions:

“what should you do before putting on your pajamas?” or “I see that you brushed your teeth, what do you have to do next?”…

And give them the space so that they can feel part of those decisions and that dynamic that they put together together.

In the process of educating and raising challenges always appear, both for adults and children… and without a doubt, routines are a good strategy to help them feel more secure and confident.

Speech, language and communication (SLC) play a vital
role in our lives. First words usually occur between 12 and 18 months, but it’s important yo know that every kid have his own time and sometimes it happens before or after.

Language is an innate ability of every human being. We have brain devices to acquire it, develop it, make it our own and achieve communication with other human beings.

Language development is extremely important for the development of thinking and cognition. The human being learns with words, thinks in words. Here lies the importance of encouraging children to reach it in a timely manner.

Being able to communicate helps children make friends, learn and enjoy life to the full.

Children’s needs to:

  • Learn to understand words, sentences and conversation
  • Learn how to talk using words and sentences.
  • Say speech sounds correctly so they can be understood by others

Neurological and thought development is achieved in human beings through imitation, exploration, displacement, sound, vision; which makes it strong and rich in connections.

There is no need for expensive objects and games, trips and walks, programs and latest model tablets. It is much simpler:

The child needs to play, dance, talk to them, tell them stories, take them to the square.

We must offer an attractive model to imitate and for this we are going to use a playful intonation or baby talk, fun and interactive communicative situations and toys and materials appropriate for the age.

Ands It’s important to remember that children begin to understand words before they can say them, but f you are worried about your child, it’s okey to ask a language therapist.

Neurological and thought development is achieved in human beings through imitation, exploration, displacement, sound, vision; they are the food of the brain, which makes it strong and rich in connections.

There is no need for expensive objects, it is much simpler. What is needed: play, dance, talk to them, tell them stories, take them to the square.

Tips and materials for each moment of development:

From 0 to 12 months:
At this stage, we must focus on sound, visual, tactile, gustatory and vestibular stimulation. Mobiles, dim lights, brightly colored toys, teething rings are ideal from 0 to 9 months.

Vestibular information is also very important at this stage, with cradling and physical contact and emotional attachment. It is the stage where we naturally use baby talking, or playful intonation, and this is essential for later development.

Then we incorporate toys and musical instruments, drag games, interlocking, different textures such as contact with water, sand, for example. All the toys for children under 24 months are large since, in addition to being safe for handling, they accompany the child’s possibilities of movement, which is not yet precise.

Some essential toys and materials from 0 to 12 months:

  • Mobiles with light and sound
  • Soft and delicate fabrics
  • Attachment toys
  • Mirrors
  • Musical instruments
  • Objects to explore such as boxes, plastic bottles, spoons and plates,
  • Big balls, games of socket and drag

From 12 to 24 months:
At this stage, it is imperative to take advantage of and facilitate communicative spaces and situations such as lunch, the bathroom, the nightly story.

We should not cover these moments with TV or tablet. The ideal is zero exposure to technological media and television in children under 24 months. After this age, 30 minutes and one hour at 24 and 36 months, respectively. The programs should be chosen, along with the child’s interests, for their educational content.

It is very important to have dinner, set the table, bathe him, cook, recounting what we do, talking with the child, inviting him to participate in these situations. These formats are the first that the child will imitate. From here he will take his first words and they will have communicative intention.

It is a stage where interacting with other children, outside the family, as far as possible of the same age, is very useful and favors the development of linguistic and social skills.

Some essential toys and materials from 12 to 24 months:

  • Musical instruments.
  • Toys with lights.
  • Carts and hauling toys
  • Boxes to transfer
  • Ball courses
  • Stuffed animals and attachment dolls
  • inserts
  • Big balls
  • Large and easy to fit blocks

We must offer an attractive model to imitate and for this we are going to use a playful intonation or baby talk, fun and interactive communicative situations and toys and materials appropriate for the age.
